Since the Library joined the EconBiz Partner Network in 2013, our PolyU students have participated in the annual contest and won various prizes in 2014-16 & 2018, demonstrating a high level of competency in their research. Take part in it, and you could be the next winner!

「笹川杯品書知日本」2019徵文大獎賽

「笹川杯品書知日本」2019徵文比賽,旨在鼓勵全國包括港澳地區的¬大學生通過閱讀各類與日本相關的書籍,撰寫論文、感想、體會等形式的文章,激發大學生對日本社會、經濟、文化等各方面瞭解和研究的興趣。

為配合是項比賽,圖書館亦於七月份在平台舉辦以日本為主題的書籍展覽,歡迎同學蒞臨參觀,借閲好書,再踴躍投稿。

徵文要求

  1. 徵文內容
    閱讀各種、各類與日本相關的圖書,之後所撰寫的論文、感想文、體會文等文章。
  2. 截止時間
    各參賽者須於2019年8月2日或之前向本校投稿。學校將會選出兩篇徵文推薦參加全國決賽。
  3. 徵文對象
    所有理大學生
  4. 投稿方式
    1) 請通過電郵投稿,徵文稿須為word格式。
    2) 投稿接收郵箱: lbueo@polyu.edu.hk
    3) 投稿電郵主題請寫:《品書知日本2019》投稿
    4) 徵文稿件的檔案名格式為:姓名--學生証號碼--徵文的標題
       例如:張三--17123456D--京都漫步
    5) 本次比賽進入全國決賽階段後,將採用匿名審稿機制,請確定文章內沒有出現姓名和學校資料。
  5. 稿件要求
    1) 徵文語言:中文
    2) 字數限制:1500-2000字(不符合字數要求的徵文將被篩除)
    3) 文章體裁:自由(散文、詩歌除外)
    4) 格式要求:本次比賽以「書」為主題,請在文末以章節附註形式注明所閱圖書名稱及參考文獻。
  6. 徵文聲明:
    1) 參加過其他徵文活動並獲獎的作品不能參選。
    2) 獲獎作品的版權歸本活動主辦者所有,獲獎作品不能參加其他同類徵文活動。
    3) 應徵作品一律不予退稿,請參賽者自留底稿。
  7. 徵文獎勵
    1) 理大校內初選:
    本次徵文大獎賽將在全校投稿作品中,推薦兩篇參加全國決賽之評選。理大圖書館將為兩名被推薦學生各頒發證書及圖書禮券港幣500元。
    2) 全國決賽評選:
    一等獎5名;二等獎10名;最佳組織獎5個。
    所有獲獎者將獲得由主辦單位頒發的獲獎證書。其中,5名一等獎的得獎者將被邀請於2020年2月(暫定)進行為期8天的訪日交流。二等獎的得獎者及最佳組織獎之得獎者將獲得相應的獎品。

This seminar will introduce to you what Open Educational Resources (OER) are and some possible ways to integrate OER into your programmes and lessons.

  • Introducing PolyU OER Portal – A portal that conveys quality OER around the world and PolyU-produced OER to you.
  • Effective integration of OER into programme/subject/lesson/online sessions.
  • Experience sharing on integrating OER into courses by Prof. Eric Tsui (ISE).

About PolyU OER Portal

PolyU Open Educational Resources (OER) Portal, recently launched and managed by Pao Yue-kong Library, aims at facilitating the discovery, sharing, and integration of public domain open educational resources around the world to address the different goals and needs of PolyU teaching and learning activities, so that students' learning experience could be further enhanced. It is also the perfect venue to archive effective OER created by PolyU staff, thus the pedagogy-related details of these OER, for the benefit of the PolyU community.

[Publishing Seminar] Peer Review 101: Improve your own manuscript by understanding the peer review process

Peer review is an essential bulwark in maintaining accuracy and trust in scholarly communication. As an author, your manuscript needs to be reviewed by other researchers before publication, and you may also have the chance to be a reviewer.

This seminar will bring you into the peer review journey and help you understand how reviews are usually done. From there you will learn what reviewers consider important so that you can take note when writing your own manuscripts. You will also learn tips for structuring a peer review which could be helpful when you get a chance to review others’ works.

About the speaker:

Dr. Kun Yu is the China Market Development Manager of Publons (part of Clarivate Analytics), leading the overall development of Publons in China. Before joining Clarivate Analytics, he worked for Springer Nature as an Acquisition and Development Editor in the life science division and for Chongqing University as an Assistant Professor in Organic Chemistry. Kun got his PhD and BSc in Chemistry from State University of New York at Binghamton and Lanzhou University respectively. Kun has been actively working with Chinese research community and STM publishing community for many years and delivered several presentations in universities and research institutions in China and many other countries, focusing on academic publishing, peer review and scientific information.

About Publons:

Publons was founded in 2012 to address the static state of peer-reviewing practices in scholarly communication, with a view to encourage collaboration and speed up scientific development. Publons became a member of the Web of Science Group in 2017. The world's researchers now use Publons to keep track of their publications, citation metrics, peer reviews and journal editing work in a single, easy-to-use profile.
