About the ProgrammeThe Read@PolyU Programnme is a campus-wide common book reading programme for full-time first-year undergraduate students, with the aims to encourage students to read, to foster a reading culture across the University, and to provide a setting for community building among students and faculty members.
Common Book 2014Published in 2006, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is a novel written from the perspective of a 9-year-old boy, picturing the life in a concentration camp run by Germany during World War II. As a son of a Nazi Commandant, the boy made friends with the forbidden one – a Jewish boy.
It is a book of friendship, loyalty and bravery. We hope that students will find the world described in the book inspiring to them in their first year of University - be brave, and be a loyal friend like Bruno. Read More...
