Publishing in Open Access Seminars: Open Access Week 2016

For this year’s OA week, the Library has scheduled 3 seminars. All academic staff, research staff and students who are interested to explore more about open access and open science are welcomed to join!

Speaker:    Ms. Lyndsey Dixon  (Regional Journals Editorial Director of the Asia Pacific portfolio, Taylor & Francis)


What is Open Access (OA)? Why should authors consider publishing OA? In this talk, Lyndsey will talk about impact of Open Access publishing for authors and also what responsibilities an author has in this new open access landscape.

She will also cover:

  • Taylor & Francis and OA 
  • The Global Landscape – Research trends and author views 
  • Things to consider: ORCID, your responsibilities as an author, and ethics 


Enriching the Research Lifecycle with Open Science

He will also cover the potential benefits brought by Open Science to the way researchers communicate.

Maximize Your Research Impact through Open Access Publishing

One of the Open Access options for authors is the Gold Route - where authors or funders pay to allow the free dissemination of their research article. In this talk, Victor will talk about how Open Access works in BioMed Central (BMC), as part of the Springer Nature, a Science, Technology and Medicine publisher with a large portfolio of peer-reviewed open access journals, and how researchers can benefit from these.
