Suspension of flushing water supply in Library toilets (2-5 Apr)

Due to the repair and reinstatement of flush pipe works arranged by the University’s Facilities Management Office, the supply of flushing water will be suspended in all Library toilets from 2 Apr to 5 Apr.

The Facilities Management Office will arrange frequent cleaning service and water buckets for toilet flushing.

Re-opening of the Library on 27 Mar 2021

Normal Library services resumed on 27 Mar 2021.

Thorough disinfection has been carried out in all study areas, toilets, staircases, passenger lifts, service counters, office areas, computing and printing equipment, ventilation system and water dispensers.  All library staff, security and cleaning staff, LibCafe staff and contractor workers in the Library have complied with the requirements of the Compulsory Testing Notice. The Library will continue to implement a series of precautionary measures to safeguard the health of library users and staff.  

Return of books and AV items
For items that are due on 25 Mar or 26 Mar 2021, please return them by 29 Mar 2021.


Picking up of books or AV items Requested
Users who have been notified to pick up the requested books or AV items by 25 Mar or 26 Mar can pick up the item(s) by 29 Mar 2021.

Please be reminded that library users are required to always wear a mask properly that cover their mouth and nose, practice social distancing, use only seats with chairs, and observe personal hygiene.

Temporary Library Closure (25-26 Mar)

As the Library building is included in the Government Gazettes Compulsory Testing Notice issued on 24 March 2021 at 20:52, it will be temporarily closed from 25 to 26 Mar 2021 for thorough disinfection, and will resume normal operations on Saturday, 27 Mar 2021 (8:30am – 10pm) tentatively.

For details about the compulsory testing requirement for Library users, please refer to the Government Gazettes Compulsory Testing Notice, and the Government website on Compulsory Testing for Specified Premises.  Any enquiries on compulsory testing arrangements may be addressed to the hotline at 6275 6901, which operates daily from 9am to 6pm. 

Return of books and AV items
For items that are due on 25 Mar or 26 Mar, no fines will be incurred if the items are returned within 3 days after the Library re-opens.

Users may also return books and AV items to our book drop located outside the campus turnstiles on the Podium Level near public footbridge towards Exit A Hung Hom MTR Station. The items returned to the book drop during the Library closure period (25-26 Mar tentatively) will be processed as returned on 24 Mar 2021.
