Organized by the Culture Promotion Committee of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in association with the Library, the Exhibition features Mr Alex Lui’s works on various scenes of the urban and the rural areas from the 1990’s to the present. The 84 pieces of exhibits, ranging from architectural drawings, Chinese ink paintings, water color and pastel paintings to charcoal and pencil drawings and sketches, capture the sentimental journey of Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland over the last two decades.
About Mr Alex Lui
Mr Alex Lu has a long and distinguished career in architecture. After obtaining Higher Certificate in Building with Distinction in 1964 from the Hong Kong Technical College, one of the predecessors of PolyU, Mr Alex Lui studied architecture at the University of Hong Kong and then city planning at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the US.
Mr Lui serves as a Council Member of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University since 2010 and is the Chairman of the Campus Development Committee. With his wealth of experience in the industry and his dedication to the local higher education sector, he has provided PolyU with valuable advice on various campus development projects and has helped identify some campus expansion opportunities for the University. In Mr Lui’s view, thoughts and feelings can be better communicated through pictures than words. He thoroughly enjoys the process of sketching, drawing or painting the people he knows, the cities and the countryside that he is familiar with, and then shares the works with others.
PolyU is most grateful to Mr Lui for his continuous support to the University and for sharing his beautiful drawings, paintings and sketches with the PolyU community through this Exhibition. |
